Shell Suber Photography LLC (SSP, we, us, or our) provides photography services in Columbia, South Carolina, and the surrounding area. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in connection with shellsuber.com, client inquiries, photography services, and related business activities.
Information we receive
When you contact us, arrange a session, or place an order, we receive the information needed to respond and provide services. This may include your name, email address, phone number, billing or delivery address, scheduling details, photography preferences, correspondence, and order and payment information. We also create and process photographs as part of our photography services, including photographs of minors.
Information may be provided through our website contact form, email, telephone, messages, booking and payment services, or other direct communications. Current website inquiries are handled through 17hats. WordPress also retains names, email addresses, and phone numbers submitted through an older contact form approximately five to seven years ago. That older form no longer receives submissions.
Our website and the services it uses may collect technical information about visits, such as IP addresses, browser and device information, pages viewed, and website interactions.
How we use information
We use information to answer inquiries; coordinate sessions and projects; provide photography services; edit and deliver photographs; arrange printing; process orders and payments; maintain client and business records; and operate our website and business.
We occasionally send past clients promotional information about our photography services. You may ask us to stop sending promotional messages by emailing shellsuber@gmail.com or using an unsubscribe option when one is provided. We may still need to communicate with you about an active inquiry, booking, order, or payment.
Providers that help us deliver services
We use outside providers for client administration, payments, editing, printing, galleries, storage, and website operations. Information needed for those functions may be processed by the relevant providers. Shell and the website administrator can access retained website contact-form records as needed to administer the business and website.
Current services include 17hats for inquiries and client administration, booking-related functions, invoices, and payment pages; Picdrop for galleries and delivery; Miller’s for printing; Venmo and PayPal for payments; and a connected payment processor for credit card payments through 17hats.
We use Lightroom frequently and Evoto occasionally to edit photographs. We use Amazon Photos and Google Photos for photograph backup or storage, along with external hard drives. These providers’ handling of information depends on the services and features used and their applicable terms and privacy policies.
We sometimes use ChatGPT to assist with correspondence. Client information included in that correspondence may be processed by OpenAI. We do not upload client photographs to ChatGPT.
We do not sell client contact information or provide it to other businesses for their own marketing. Providers may process information needed to deliver our services, and website analytics and embedded services may process visitor information as described below.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law or in connection with protecting legal rights or addressing fraud or security concerns.
Gallery links and photograph storage
We generally deliver client photographs through Picdrop. Galleries are accessible to anyone who has the gallery link. We provide the link to the client, who may choose to share it. Anyone receiving the link may view the gallery and may be able to download photographs according to its settings. Please consider who will have access before forwarding a gallery link.
Our Google Photos copies are used for our own storage rather than client delivery. Amazon Photos is used for backup, and Shell is the only person SSP authorizes to access that backup account. The storage providers also process stored information under their own policies.
We generally delete rejected photographs during culling. Selected photographs and retained source files are backed up and kept in long-term archives, currently without a fixed deletion date. This practice does not guarantee that any photograph will remain available indefinitely. We do not currently have a routine deletion schedule for retained website inquiry records, including the older contact-form records.
Portfolio and promotional photographs
We sometimes display client photographs as examples of our work on our website or in promotional social media posts. Website portfolio samples do not include client names. Social media posts sometimes identify or tag clients.
If you do not want your photographs used on our website or in our promotional social media posts, please contact shellsuber@gmail.com. We honor those requests for uses within our control. We cannot retrieve copies that other people have independently downloaded or shared. This Privacy Policy does not serve as a model release or grant permission to use your likeness in advertising.
Website analytics and cookies
Our website is hosted by GoDaddy and uses Google Analytics 4 through MonsterInsights to understand visitor numbers, page views, link activity, and interactions with website content. Analytics tools may use cookies or similar technologies and process technical information about visits. The website also embeds a 17hats contact form. Hosting, security, and embedded-service providers may process technical information needed to operate their services, including server or security logs.
Your browser may allow you to restrict or delete cookies. Doing so may affect some website features and does not necessarily stop all forms of technical information collection. Third-party services have their own privacy policies and settings.
Your questions and requests
You may contact shellsuber@gmail.com to ask about information you have provided, request a correction, stop promotional messages, raise a concern about a photograph, or request deletion of information. We will review requests in light of applicable law, ongoing services, and business or legal recordkeeping needs. We may need to verify your identity before providing or changing information. Certain records or archived copies may need to be retained; we will explain relevant limitations when responding.
A parent or legal guardian may contact us about information or photographs concerning their child. Nothing in this policy limits privacy rights that applicable law gives you.
Security
No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Please do not send full payment card details, passwords, or other sensitive financial information through ordinary email or a website inquiry message. Use the payment service provided for your transaction.
Policy updates
We may update this policy when our services or practices change. The date at the top identifies the current version. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required by applicable law.
